Ismael is a bit of a goof and nobody calls him Ismael, white whales be damned. He likes turtles and dislikes Butterfinger candy bars. We are not sure why he wanted people to know these things but we do know that he can kiss that endorsement from Nestlé goodbye. Ismael is also one of the primary reasons for the creation of Want To Like Movies. Ismael has two distinct personalities, Ish and Mikey.
Ish is the more frequent personality who has an intense rivalry with Niko on just about every subject. Here at Want To Like it manifests in the form of who is the better gamer. He has a tendency to put both feet in his mouth at the same time saying things that do not convey his intended meaning. This occurs mostly when he is speaking off the cuff and not fully analyzing his comments internally before articulating them. This results in some of the funniest and most random moments which are sure to be the favorite of many viewers. This also causes Travis headaches while editing when he must choose between keeping an otherwise worthless segment or losing a gem of a comment. Hooray for more work to create exclusive bonus content.
Mikey is the more successful personality. Whenever Mikey is around things go Ismael’s way. He can easily solve puzzles, navigate tricky platformers, and engage in thoughtful conversations. Mikey has even been known to drop timely references and provide scathing and humorous criticism to his fellow cast members, even the ones who are not Niko. It may seem like Mikey does not come around often but the reality is that Mikey requires so much more of Ismael’s energy that he tires quickly and must lie dormant for extended periods of time. If Ismael is yawning Mikey has probably left the building.
